Sushi & Brown Rice – A New Healthy Food Trend
Japan and North America are experiencing a major problem with diabetes. Two staples of Japan’s diet, white rice and noodles, are being viewed as the major culprits for this out-of-control health issue. Thankfully there are alternatives, at least in North America (the Japanese are reluctant to change their eating habits). Shizen Ya is a Japanese restaurant chain that now offers sushi made only with brown rice (no white rice). Brown rice is a whole grain food, has more fiber, and won’t cause spikes in your body’s glucose levels. It tastes great and has more flavor than white rice (which can be quite bland). Give it a try!
